Carol's Gotta Go!
Cya Xi’an!

Today is our last day in Xi’an. I feel like we could have left a few days ago. Not that I’m bored, but there’s a limited amount of “must see” sites for tourists. We’re also craving pizza. I think a trip to the “much too classy” Pizza Hut in town is in order for this afternoon.

After being SO over the “we’re in a foreign country…don’t know the language and can’t read squat, but we’re gonna be tough and tackle city busses and struggle with every little thing we take for granted in our daily lives in a familiar country…like ask how much something costs’ we decided to take a guided tour offered by the Hostel nearby. It was to the Panda Refuge, which was really more like a zoo. But they picked us up….drove us there, gave us a guided tour in English, took us to lunch, ordered for us, then drove us right back home. It was nice.

Then we relaxed for a bit before the Tang Dynasty show. Another “must” for Xi’an tourists. They gave us a ride there too, in a Buick. The show consisted of a reeeeally wonderful dumpling assortment. The dumplings were shaped like their respective fillings. Piggy shaped for pork, fish shaped for fish…and so on. One of them had shart fin! Tasted kinda like meat flavored jelly. Not bad! Until Joee found a spider in her soup. It was the soup where they put “baby dumplings” into it. And however many dumplings end up in your bowl tells your fortune. One dumpling: good luck. Two dumplings: lost of money. Three dumplines: long life (I’m making these up b/c i don’t remember specifically….). I wonder what one dumpling + one spider means?! The show was a bit tame overall, but they had cool costumes…and western bathrooms (a big must).

That’s all for now. Back to touristing….
